SAM kick-off in Casablanca.

SAM the future of the Sustainable African Metropolis

'The Sustainable African Metropolis' (SAM) is a research by interviews project about sustainable development of the future African Metropolis.

The project is initiated by the architecture office Blok Kats van Veen Architects and Erno Langenberg (Architect, Researcher, ELstudio). At the moment they collaborate for the project  with Eva Vrouwe (Urban and Economic Geographer), Emma van Sandick (Senior researcher/ advisor Sustainable Innovation, TNO) and Jeroen Brouwer (Research Scientist Innovation and Environment, TNO).

De Waardering #0:
Een avond over toekomstperspectieven voor creatieve makers

De Waardering is een avond van de Verdieping, geïnitieerd door drie jonge zelfstandig architecten en komt tot stand in samenwerking met Stichting Nederland Kennisland.

Al enige tijd zien zij binnen hun werkveld een groeiende cultuur van onbetaalde prijsvragen & pitches. Nu de bouw- en vastgoedwereld zich in een crisis bevindt worden er nog meer prijsvragen uitgeschreven met steeds minder verplichtingen. De afgelopen jaren is met de meeste gewonnen prijsvraaginzendingen uiteindelijk weinig gebeurd. Toch lijken architecten onverminderd hieraan deel te nemen, hopende op die ene opdracht die hun grote doorbraak zal betekenen.

Visit Lusaka Zambia

While being in Zambia for the project "hospice Chipata" we traveled as well to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia to meet the local people for information and possible collaborations.

For the project "hospice Chipata", a self-sufficient hospice in Chipata, Zambia. Robert van Kats (BKVV) and I traveled to Zambia to visit the site and meet the local people involved in the project.

On February 26th the first Platform Re-set action took place.
We marched, carrying punctuation marks through the drizzling rain in Amsterdam North.

 

The first action in Amsterdam North was meant to be a try-out. Our next action will take the punctuation marks to the center of Amsterdam. On Saturday the 26th of March at 12.00 we will meet at the Stopera and from there we will walk through the crowded inner streets of Amsterdam (see below), often pausing to hand out flyers and pose for cameras. It’s not a demonstration, there will be no banners nor speeches – we assemble, walk and eventually disperse.
