SAM the future of the Sustainable African Metropolis


'The Sustainable African Metropolis' (SAM) is a research by interviews project about sustainable development of the future African Metropolis.
The project is initiated by the architecture office Blok Kats van Veen Architects and Erno Langenberg (Architect, Researcher, ELstudio). At the moment they collaborate for the project  with Eva Vrouwe (Urban and Economic Geographer), Emma van Sandick (Senior researcher/ advisor Sustainable Innovation, TNO) and Jeroen Brouwer (Research Scientist Innovation and Environment, TNO).

While being in Zambia for the project "hospice Chipata" we traveled as well to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia to meet the local people for information and possible collaborations.

Visit Chipata Zambia

For the project "hospice Chipata", a self-sufficient hospice in Chipata, Zambia. Robert van Kats (BKVV) and I traveled to Zambia to visit the site and meet the local people involved in the project.

Hospice Zambia

Design for a hospice for the palliation of terminally ill patient's in Chipata, Zambia. The hospice is composed of a core for the staff around which 12 units are placed with a total of 24 beds. Later it will be possible to easily expand by adding another 12 units.
