Hospice Zambia

Design for a hospice for the palliation of terminally ill patient's in Chipata, Zambia. The hospice is composed of a core for the staff around which 12 units are placed with a total of 24 beds. Later it will be possible to easily expand by adding another 12 units.

The project will be self-sustainable; it will produce the electricity and water needed to function, and constructed from local materials, as much as possible.

The project is initiated by Anjo Schuite, Chipata Foundation, and designed in collaboration with DWA installation and energy consultants and  BKVV architects. Start of the building process is planned for May 2011.
